Abstract
For years, the Systems Engineering Body of Knowledge has released vision statements that help to define the needs of a successful digital transformative future brought about by the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The problem is both complicated and complex.
A decomposed view of the problem leads to the DoD's recent digital engineering directive (DoDI 5000.97). This directive mandates the incorporation of digital engineering for all new programs and includes digital engineering practices within sustainment, sometimes referred to as Digital Product Support.
While there are many views as to what the solution may contain, any holistic solution must contain one key factor -- data interoperability. The purpose of this presentation is to provide an overview of a suite of specifications aimed at promoting data interoperability within the Integrated Product Support (IPS) ecosystem.
