Abstract: The Big Picture in a COTS/NDI Environment

If you can’t describe what you are doing as a process, you don’t know what you are doing.

W. Edwards Deming

This skills-focused workshop, The Big Picture in a COTS/NDI Environment, will address logistics and specialty discipline analyses end-to-end from kickoff to delivery of the final Supportability Product Data (training materials, technical manuals, and provisioning).

We will also address predecessor data relationships of different analyses or products leading to the next, conduct deep-dive reviews and perform exercises in critical path analysis. These exercises will include reliability predictions and failure modes, and effects analysis.

During the workshop we will discuss key activities involving external resources and stakeholders, and address efficiencies that can be achieved to maximize benefit while minimizing the cost to implement. These activities should result in data products and metrics developed through analytical rigor.

Today’s business environment emphasizes a shift from high cost Contractor Logistics Support or Field Support Representative, to an Organic sustainment approach. We will discuss the necessary analytical framework to establish an Organic sustainment capability and supply chain, while improving Availability (Ao) and reducing the Total Cost of Ownership (TOC).

At the end of this workshop, you will be able to describe what you are doing as a process, but moreover, have the necessary knowledge to execute the process effectively.
